Adopted by a Murderous Duke Family
by Rogang (original novel); Da-Woo (adaptation) · WEBTOON / NAVER WEBTOON / Jaedam Media · 2024
best for Readers who want an abused young healer's second chance, an intimidating adoptive household, and family affection taking priority over immediate romance.
Heads-up: child abuse and violence against children, and more. All content notes
What it's about
Agnes dies after years of exploitation by a duke who values her healing ability more than her life. Waking before she was sold, she refuses to repeat that future. She instead seeks adoption into the notorious Rodwick household and begins again as Tuariche. Her new relatives have a frightening reputation as assassins, but their home may offer the protection she never had. Keeping her gift concealed becomes part of learning whether she can finally trust a family.
My take
The appeal rests on the gap between the Rodwicks' dangerous reputation and the security Tuariche begins to find with them. Her vulnerable perspective gives the adoption scenes an emotional purpose, and the expressive child-focused art supports that warmth. The larger plot is less distinctive than the family dynamic, so this works best when you want recovery and affection rather than a particularly intricate revenge story.
— Dawna A.
✓ Read it if…
Small changes in how Tuariche is treated provide the main payoff: being noticed, protected, and given room to feel safe. Knowing what her first life cost her makes those ordinary comforts matter, while the family's intimidating image keeps the softness from feeling entirely frictionless.
! Skip it if…
The backstory involves exploitation, captivity, and violence against a child. Readers looking mainly for adult romance may find the childhood focus slow, and those seeking complicated assassin politics may want more than the protective-family premise delivers.

How we review manhwa
Every review, rating and reading guide on Moonlight Toons is written by one person, for readers. This page explains exactly what goes into a review, what the numbers mean, and how titles end up on our lists.
Who writes the reviews
Reviews, ratings and guides are written by Dawna A., a manhwa reader and the founder of Moonlight Toons. They're personal editorial opinions from a reader's point of view, not aggregated scores or publisher copy.
What we cover
Mostly Korean manhwa, with a focus on romance, fantasy and villainess stories. A handful of Japanese manga and Chinese manhua are included too; every title shows an origin badge (Manhwa, Manga or Manhua) so you always know which is which.
What every review includes
- A short synopsis that sets up the premise without giving away the ending.
- The review itself, plus why you'd like it and what may not be for everyone, so you can tell quickly whether a title fits you.
- Three scores out of 10: story, art and romance (see below).
- Tags for mood, tropes and the type of lead, which power the browse pages and the recommendation finder.
- Our own content rating (plus the platform's rating where we know it) and content warnings, listed plainly.
- Status and chapter count (ongoing, completed or on hiatus).
- Where to read it legally, with links to the official platforms.
How the scores work
Each title gets three scores out of 10, one each for story, art and romance. The overall score you see on cards and lists is the average of the three. Scores are personal judgments, so two titles with the same number can be great for very different reasons; the written review always explains the why.
Content ratings and warnings
Every title carries a content rating: All Ages, R15 (mature themes such as violence or emotional abuse), or R18 / R19 (adult content). Content warnings are listed on each title page so you can decide before you start.
These ratings are our own. They're Moonlight Toons' editorial classification, not the reading platform's, so they won't always match. A series WEBTOON lists as "Teen" or Tapas as "13+" may be R15 here. Platforms rate for their own audiences and rules; we rate on the themes and content of the story as we've read it, and we lean cautious when a story deals with abuse, violence or trauma. Where we know the platform's own rating, the title page shows it next to ours as "Platform rating". Always check the platform's rating too before reading.
18+ titles are locked. They never appear in public lists, guides or recommendations, and they can only be opened by a signed-in reader who has confirmed they are 18 or older.
Spoilers
Reviews stick to the premise. Each title page shows a spoiler level (none, minor, moderate or major) so you know what to expect before reading the review. Guides never reveal a plot twist; they tell you there is one.
Legal reading links only
We link only to official platforms, never to unofficial or pirated copies. Moonlight Toons isn't affiliated with any publisher or platform, and the links are there so you can support the creators by reading at the source.
How lists and guides are made
Our "Best of" pages and reading guides only include titles that have been reviewed and rated here, ranked by those scores and adjusted by hand where a pick suits a list better. Titles are never ranked in exchange for payment.
Keeping things accurate
Status, chapter counts and reading links change over time, and we update them as they do. Spotted something out of date or wrong? Email support@moonlighttoons.com and we'll fix it.

Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what information Moonlight Toons ("we", "the app") handles and why. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. What we store on your device
The app saves your shelf, reading progress, ratings, notes and preferences in your browser's local storage on your own device. This stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you sign in to sync (below). You can clear it any time from your browser, or via Settings → Back up / Restore.
2. Accounts and cloud sync (optional)
If you create a free account (email and password, or "Sign in with Google"), we store your email address, a securely hashed password (for email accounts) or a Google account identifier, and a copy of your shelf data, so we can sync it across your devices. We never see your Google password. You can sign out any time (your on-device data stays), and you can request deletion of your account and synced data by emailing us.
If you choose to unlock mature (18+) titles, we ask for your date of birth and store it on your account solely to confirm you are 18 or older. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose, and it is deleted when you delete your account.
3. Comments and searches
If you post a comment on a title or blog post, your comment text, any photo you attach, and your display name are stored and shown publicly to other readers. Don't post anything you wouldn't want public. You can delete your own comments.
When you use Help me remember, we save the words you searched, which titles came up, and which one you opened, so we can improve the results. These searches aren't linked to your account or shown to other readers; to limit abuse we keep only a one-way scrambled form of your IP address. Saved searches are deleted after a year.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The app uses local storage to function (remembering your shelf, settings and sign-in). You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the banner shown on your first visit, and change your choice any time via Cookie preferences.
This site uses cookies and similar technologies, including those provided by Google and other third-party advertising partners, to serve ads and measure their performance. These technologies may use information about your visits to this and other websites to provide advertising tailored to your interests. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and you can opt out of personalized advertising through https://myadcenter.google.com/personalizationoff or by visiting https://optout.aboutads.info/.
5. Third-party services
We rely on: Google Sign-In (only if you choose it, to authenticate you); Google AdSense (to display advertising); and our web host (to serve the site and store synced data). These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. Titles marked mature (18+) are locked and cannot be viewed unless a signed-in user confirms a date of birth showing they are 18 or older. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your choices
You can browse fully without an account (mature 18+ titles stay locked), decline non-essential cookies, delete your comments, sign out, and request account/data deletion by email.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
