What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

After unemployment, a broken relationship, and financial ruin convince Yijae Choi that his life has no value, he dies by suicide. Death takes his dismissive attitude personally and sentences him to inhabit thirteen people who are each moments away from dying. If Yijae can prevent even one destined death, he may keep that person's life—but every new body forces him to confront consequences he never understood.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

A high-concept punishment story becomes a surprisingly humane examination of despair, privilege, and the damage one death leaves behind. The changing bodies keep the pacing sharp while gradually connecting what first look like separate tragedies. Some lessons are blunt, but the compact structure and escalating consequences deliver a memorable finish.

✓ Read it if…

Each life functions as its own tense survival puzzle while adding another angle to Yijae's moral reckoning. The format offers constant resets without feeling disposable because earlier choices keep returning in consequential ways.

! Skip it if…

Suicide is the premise and repeatedly revisited, while several deaths are violent and emotionally punishing. The story's message can also feel didactic when Death explains what Yijae is supposed to learn.
