What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

After dying while trying to save a child, Leona awakens inside a novel as the third stepmother of Rebecca Petry, the duke's notoriously rebellious daughter and future villainess. Rebecca has already driven away previous maternal figures and has no intention of welcoming Leona. Ordered by Duke Ian Petry to handle his daughter, Leona draws on her past-life childcare experience. What begins as survival inside a hostile household gradually becomes an attempt to give Rebecca the security and affection she has been missing.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Rearing Rebecca is strongest when it treats Rebecca's awful behavior as something shaped by loneliness rather than proof that she is simply a bad child. Leona's practical childcare approach creates both comedy and genuinely warm progress, while Ian's shortcomings as a father keep the family arc from feeling effortless. The romance is pleasant but secondary to parenting. Some repetitive tantrum-and-repair cycles can slow the middle.

✓ Read it if…

Rebecca is not instantly transformed by one kind gesture, so her growing trust in Leona feels earned. Readers who enjoy stepmother stories will get plenty of domestic comedy, but the more satisfying payoff is watching a neglected child slowly believe an adult might actually stay.

! Skip it if…

Rebecca's early behavior is intentionally exhausting, and the parenting conflicts repeat before major progress sticks. The duke can also be frustratingly hands-off at first, which may test readers looking for an immediately supportive male lead.
