Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Plain, anxious Amy Song stumbles into Spirit Fingers, an eccentric drawing club where everyone uses a color nickname. Modeling, sketching, and falling for a flamboyant classmate slowly teach her to see herself outside her family’s criticism.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

The romance is delightful, but Amy’s expanding sense of self is the true love story. The club gives Amy an audience that notices her without demanding she become someone entirely different first. That makes the romance part of a larger recovery of confidence, although the broad reactions and painful family criticism can sit awkwardly beside the quieter, more persuasive moments in her growth.

✓ Read it if…

It is funny, stylish, affirming, and packed with characters whose oddness becomes a source of connection rather than shame.

! Skip it if…

Some comedy is exaggerated, and the heroine’s family dynamic can be painfully invalidating for a long stretch.
