Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Web novelist Kim Hajin wakes inside the unfinished story he created, not as its hero or villain but as an unnamed extra enrolled at an elite academy. His authorship gives him knowledge of the setting, major characters, and coming disasters, yet the world immediately begins diverging from what he remembers. Hajin develops specialized abilities and intervenes from the margins, trying to guide the original protagonists without exposing his impossible perspective. New characters, altered motivations, and an unknown force behind his transportation steadily undermine his advantage. To return home—or at least keep the world alive—he must treat his own draft as a clue rather than a dependable script.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

The Novel's Extra uses authorship as both power and anxiety: Hajin knows how this world should work, but also how much of it he left unfinished. His preference for ranged combat and preparation gives the polished action a tactical identity. His restraint sometimes keeps his emotional life at a distance, and the adaptation compresses parts of the novel. The best tension comes from the creator realizing that characters he treated as fictional now have real consequences.

✓ Read it if…

Hajin is confronting his own abandoned ideas, plot holes, and character destinies, which adds a fresh layer to familiar academy elements. His gun-focused fighting style stands out among swords and magic, and as certainty erodes he has to improvise rather than follow a remembered walkthrough.

! Skip it if…

The large cast and shifting mysteries make motivations hard to track, especially when academy events move quickly. Hajin is guarded and often acts alone, which limits emotional closeness. Several women become attached to him in a harem-adjacent way, and the central mysteries remain unresolved because it's still ongoing.
