What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

An exhausted modern worker wakes as Yvonne Argentrose, a wealthy noblewoman whose jealousy of a novel's heroine originally leads to disaster. She would happily abandon that rivalry and enjoy her comfortable new circumstances. Her family, however, arranges a meeting with Duke Ehels, whose apparently flawless manners make her suspicious. Meanwhile, the crown prince she has stopped pursuing takes an unwelcome interest, turning her planned retreat from the plot into another romantic complication.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

The family indulgence and Yvonne's abrupt change of priorities give this an entertaining wish-fulfillment setup. Ehels's direct interest also offers a welcome alternative to endlessly hostile courtship. The recurring problem is communication: suspicion repeatedly stalls the relationship, and the heroine's apparent competence does not always translate into satisfying decisions. It is an easier recommendation for readers who enjoy romantic farce than for those seeking tightly reasoned character behavior.

✓ Read it if…

There is pleasure in watching someone step away from an exhausting romantic rivalry and discover that attention can come to her instead. The exaggerated family support makes the early chapters particularly comfortable, while the duke's pursuit gives the comedy a clear romantic direction.

! Skip it if…

Repeated misunderstandings can make the couple feel stuck even when their attraction is obvious. Readers expecting a consistently proactive, powerful heroine may also find the distance between Yvonne's potential and her actual choices frustrating.
