Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Areum records dreams and premonitions because too many of them eventually become real. Her private system stops feeling manageable when she finds pages she cannot remember writing—warnings connected to a catastrophe at her school. Darkness, monstrous threats, and broken pieces of possible futures turn an ordinary student environment into a survival zone where every decision may confirm or alter what she has seen. Areum must determine which fragments can be trusted, protect classmates with conflicting priorities, and understand why the nightmare seems tied to her. The mystery unfolds through visions, missing context, and relationships strained by fear rather than through a straightforward explanation of the disaster.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Night of Shadows builds dread through uncertainty: Areum's notes warn that something terrible may happen without saying when, how, or whether stopping it makes things worse. YUNG's art is excellent with darkness, distorted bodies, and sudden shifts into nightmare imagery. Juggling several incomplete clues makes the reveals rewarding but the chronology hard to follow at times. It's on a break with a return announced, so the mystery is still unfinished.

✓ Read it if…

Theory lovers get plenty to chew on in the dream pages, repeated images, and uncertain futures. The tension comes from deciding whether information is a warning, a trap, or inevitable, and the visual direction makes ordinary classrooms and hallways feel threatening even between attacks.

! Skip it if…

The fragmented storytelling deliberately withholds context, so it can feel disorienting if you want clear rules. The horror includes blood, deaths, disturbing transformations, and danger to young characters. Subplots compete for attention, there's no ending yet, and it isn't a romance-led story.
