What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Abused and isolated, Maximilian is married to lowborn knight Riftan and left behind when he departs for war. Three years later he returns a legendary commander, fiercely devoted to a wife who must learn that love cannot heal what she still believes about herself.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Few romantasy comics render longing this beautifully: the art is opulent, the physical chemistry palpable, and Maxi's halting growth genuinely moving. Maxi's hesitation matters because affection arrives before she has the confidence to believe she deserves it. That mismatch makes the physical closeness emotionally complicated, although Riftan's intensity can reinforce her difficulty speaking openly even when his devotion is meant to offer the safety her earlier life denied her.

✓ Read it if…

It pairs epic-scale worldbuilding with deeply intimate character work, letting Maxi's education and self-worth matter as much as the swoon-worthy marriage.

! Skip it if…

The relationship includes possessiveness, explosive arguments, and unequal power; the slow recovery arc repeatedly revisits trauma and miscommunication.
