Happily Ever Afterwards

엔딩 후 서브남을 주웠다; I Picked Up the Second Male Lead After the Ending

best for Readers who like cheerful heroines, wounded second male leads, post-novel isekai, cold-region romance, and persistence that gradually becomes mutual care.

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

Peony is reborn as a princess inside The Song of Askar, the romance novel she loved in her previous life. Rather than pursue the victorious male lead, she travels to the harsh northern territory where Richt—the story's rejected second male lead and former prince—has been exiled. Peony arrives with a direct proposal and enormous confidence that affection can give him the happy ending the novel denied him. Richt is suspicious, isolated, and unwilling to become anyone's consolation prize. Winning his trust requires Peony to understand the real man beyond her fan devotion while surviving political pressure and the physical dangers of his neglected domain.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Happily Ever Afterwards enjoys the fantasy of rescuing a beloved second male lead, then questions what that asks of Richt himself. Peony's fan certainty is funny, and the romance improves once she learns devotion doesn't entitle her to his trust. Her early pursuit can feel too forceful, and some misunderstandings are familiar. Jeongseo's expressive art and the completed length make it a warm post-ending romance.

✓ Read it if…

The joy is watching admiration grow into a relationship between equals, as Peony brings color into Richt's isolated life and his practical care steadies her enthusiasm. Their size and temperament contrast is great comedy, and the northern setting supplies plenty of forced proximity in a comforting, completed romance.

! Skip it if…

Peony ignores several boundaries in the early courtship, which can feel more intrusive than charming. The politics and antagonists are simple, danger resolves quickly to keep the tone buoyant, and if you dislike persistent-heroine-melts-cold-man stories, the setup may grate.
