Ch. 01 · The story

What it's about

Spoiler level: Minor — for the synopsis & review below

In a society scarred by wars between celebrated heroes and feared villains, Ihwa hunts the people responsible for her sister's death. She possesses the rare ability to take the Gifts of those she kills, making every confrontation a chance to grow stronger—and another step into the same violent system she despises. Her search brings her into contact with villain organizations, corrupt hero clans, independent fighters, and survivors whose loyalties refuse to fit neat labels. As Ihwa follows the trail behind the murder, her private revenge becomes entangled with a much larger struggle over who has the authority to define justice.

Ch. 02 · Our verdict

My take

Hero Killer lets its heroine be dangerous, selfish, funny, and hard to categorize, so Ihwa's grief never reduces her to a solemn revenge machine. Heroes can be monstrous and villains principled, and the sharply designed, explosive Gift battles reveal character as clearly as dialogue. The expanding factions get dense, and the revenge thread often pauses for politics or another fighter's story. It's stylish action with enough moral friction to make the spectacle feel purposeful.

✓ Read it if…

Ihwa takes initiative, loses, adapts, and grows more formidable without being rewritten into a conventional savior. Varied powers, imposing women across every faction, and battles shaped by strategy and history make it a great choice if you're tired of sanitized heroines and enjoy piecing together factional motives.

! Skip it if…

Violence is frequent and can be graphic, with deaths treated as normal for the setting. The large cast, invented terms, and shifting alliances demand attention, and the revenge goal disappears for stretches. Romance isn't a focus, and Ihwa's readiness to kill makes her deliberately hard to identify with.
